Predictions are in place for thunderstorms, lightning and intense rainfall, and gusty winds for Mumbai, Pune, Thane, and Palghar, as the southwest monsoon strengthens over the region.Roads floodedMost of the city reported over 200 mm of rainfall on Tuesday night. This resulted in flooded roads and disruptions in train services. As per officials, parts of the city received over 200 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8 AM. Commuters face delays on major roads while civic agencies are continuously working to clear flooded stretches. For explorers in the city, this means airport transfers and sightseeing schedules may take considerably longer than expected. Be prepared for traffic jams and road disruptions and plan accordingly. Government urges cautionA few days back, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had expressed concerns over Mumbai’s no rain conditions. But today’s story is different. As per reports, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (also officially known as the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai) body has deployed over 7,000 staff across the city to manage the situation and respond to rain-related issues.Those dependent on BEST buses are advised to check their routes before stepping out.
