Justin Trudeau’s son, Xavier Trudeau, has given his seal of approval to his father’s girlfriend, Katy Perry, saying that seeing photos of the couple online is just like seeing pictures of his own parents together.
The 18-year-old singer — who is the eldest son of Justin and his ex-wife Sophie Grégoire — confessed that he isn’t bothered by the “noise” about his dad’s love life during Wednesday’s episode of the Can’t Be Censored podcast.
He said that seeing pictures of Justin and Perry together is just like “any other picture of my dad and my mom or just my dad.”
“My life is so crazy sometimes,” Xavier continued. “Sometimes I just sit there, and I’m staring at the ceiling like, ‘What is my life?’ What the hell?’ I just laugh. The reality of it is, it’s my life. What can I do? What can I change?”
Xavier said that his own relationship with Perry has blossomed to the point of seeking career advice from the “Firework” singer. “When I’m really happy with a song, [I] send it [to her],” he said. “She’s always happy to give me advice or tell me what I should change.”
“She’s super nice. She’s super down to earth. She’s great. I think that my dad’s happy, so that’s important.”
Xavier first spoke about his dad’s “cool” girlfriend in a February Instagram video with content creator G Hobs.
“We talked for hours, talking about my music,” he said. “She gave me advice and next steps for me and stuff.”
The 18-year-old launched his music career under the name Xav and released his debut single, “Til The Nights Done,” in February 2025. He then released two other songs last year, “Everything I Know” and “Back Me Up.”
Xavier is the eldest child of Grégoire and Justin, who split in 2023 after 18 years of marriage. The former couple also share Ella-Grace, 17, and Hadrien, 12.
Perry and Justin first sparked romance rumors in July 2025 when they were seen dining together at a restaurant in Montreal, Canada. They went Instagram official in December, days after their first diplomatic date as a couple. At the time, the former prime minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida, shared a photo of himself and his wife, Yuko, meeting Perry and Justin for lunch.
In January, the two made their first major public appearance as a couple while attending the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Perry was previously in a long-term relationship with Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares five-year-old daughter Daisy Dove Bloom. The pair announced their split in early July 2025.
