Aaron Rodgers slammed for comments about exes Shailene Woodley and Danica Patrick

Aaron Rodgers has sparked backlash over comments made about his previous relationships.

Appearing on his teammate Cam Heyward’s podcast Not Just Football, the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback aired out some dirty laundry pertaining to his relationships with exes Shailene Woodley and Danica Patrick.

Rodgers dated former Nascar driver Patrick from 2018 to 2020, and then actor Woodley from 2020 to 2022. The latter relationship ended in a called off engagement. He is now married to a woman named Brittani, though further details about her and their relationship are unclear.

The controversial NFL player’s comments began when he was asked the question: ”What do most people get wrong about you?” Instead of offering up a personal anecdote, he launched into verbal tirades against his exes.

“I dated two women who nobody gives a f*** about unless they drop my name,” Rodgers began. “And they like to say their version of the history of what happened, and so I’m just this monster of a partner, and it’s just f***ing horse s***.”

He then went on to call out each woman, making scathing claims about Woodley and claiming Patrick “was depressed and not fun to be around,” prompting a flurry of backlash.

“Yep, sometimes you just have to call an asshole an asshole. Aaron Rodgers is an unlikeable asshole,” one person wrote on X.

Another agreed: “Even if this were true, why is he telling people? What a sack of s***.”

“Aaron seems to be the common denominator in these failed relationships!!!” another person wrote while someone else said, “Guy needs to shut his mouth… comes off as sour grapes, especially a few days after she wins an Emmy.”

Woodley took home her first Emmy last weekend in the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series category for her role on Hulu’s Paradise.

Both Woodley and Patrick have spoken out about their respective relationships with Rodgers.

Woodley told Outside in 2024 that her relationship with Rodgers “was not right. But it was beautiful.” She alluded to their 2022 breakup being “traumatic” and said that she had been in a “toxic situation” experiencing “the lowest low of my life” afterward.

In 2025, Patrick said during an appearance on The Stage Steele Show that her breakup with Rodgers was “the most amount of pain” she’s ever experienced.

“Because it was sudden, it felt like. It was my life. So like when you live with somebody, it’s your whole life,” she explained, alleging that the “nature of the relationship was emotionally abusive, so that wore me down to nothing.”

The Independent has contacted representatives for Woodley and Patrick for comment.
