Katie Price confronts ‘detained’ husband Lee Andrews over phone activity in update

Katie Price has shared more details about her one-minute call with husband Lee Andrews after two weeks of no contact with the businessman – who claims that he’s being held in a Dubai prison.

Price announced on Wednesday (27 May) that she had finally heard from Andrews, who she revealed had gone “missing” a fortnight earlier. Dubai-based Andrews had been due to fly to the UK earlier in May but failed to show, telling Price that he had been “detained” by authorities in his final texts to her.

After sharing that Andrews had been held by the authorities in Dubai on suspicion for being “a spy”, Price revealed more details on her podcast, The Katie Price Show, on Thursday (28 May).

Speaking to her sister on the podcast, Price said: “He has been found alive and I spoke to him for one minute and they thought he was a spy, he’s been interrogated, they had hoods on him and that.”

She added that she’s planning to fly out to Dubai to see him, but is busy with filming multiple projects – including a documentary for Sky. “I’m so busy but I have to find at least a couple of days to find out where he is, when I can see him.”

Price also revealed that she addressed a number of fans’ concerns with Andrews, which came up while he was uncontactable. Last week, The Apprentice’s Luisa Zissman claimed that Andrews’ account had been active on Facebook just days after claiming to have been detained, while others pointed out that his Instagram account appeared to follow a female US Navy veteran during that time.

“I did ask him – he hasn’t been on his phone,” Price said on the podcast. “He hasn’t had his phone. He’s been interogated, they’ve gone through his phone so they’ve been mucking about on his phone basically.”

As for Andrews following another woman on Instagram, Price added: “What happened with that other woman was apparently she activated her account and maybe she followed Lee or Lee followed her years ago or whenever.

“They’ve never exchanged messages or nothing. So she blocked him. That’s why it’s gone back.”

The Independent has contacted the Dubai police for comment.

Price said that when Andrews is released, she plans on doing a “sit-down interview” with him to set the record straight. “I think the public deserve it because it’s gone everywhere,” she said.

The ex glamour model told The Sun yesterday that she had been in touch with Andrews, saying: “I told him how worried I had been and told him I loved him. It was very rushed, but he said the authorities out there thought he was a spy. I don’t know much more than that right now.”

The call had been set up by Andrews’ father and reportedly took place in a call box in Al Awir prison.

Price revealed on Saturday 16 May that she had not heard from Andrews in four days and feared he may have been “kidnapped”. However, a week later, she revealed that she would be “taking a step back” from the case.

“I’m taking time to think of what I want to process and that’s why I say, there’s nothing more I can do but I am getting on with my life if you understand me saying that. Let me put it in short, for my own sanity, I’m taking a step back,” she said at the time.
