Tom Cruise has gushed over his recent encounter with Prince William and Princess Kate, who attended the world premiere of his new film, Digger.
Speaking to Extra at the Los Angeles premiere of the film just days after the world premiere was held in London, Cruise fawned over the royal couple.
“I have so much respect for them,” Cruise said. “They’re amazing people and how dedicated they are to their country.” Cruise added that William and Kate are “beautiful people and fun” and “so charismatic and so elegant.”
Then, he began talking specifically about Kate, saying she has an “incredible sense of humor.”
“That dress she was wearing … stunning. William did well,” Cruise gushed. He then looked directly to the camera and said, “Will, way to go.”
He added: “Smart choice. Gotta give it to William.”
The royals were on hand at the world premiere of Digger, at Leicester Square Gardens in London, and were greeted by Cruise and other members of the cast and production team.
Kate wore a floor-length purple Jenny Packham dress accessorized with earrings that belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales, and an amethyst sautoir necklace owned by the Queen Mother. William wore a black velvet tuxedo that attracted a compliment from Cruise, who greeted the prince with the words “great jacket.”
Cruise said he had “private conversations” with the couple, adding that “it was just so fun sitting there watching them watch” the film.
“You know, they were shocked and surprised and wrote me later, ‘Can’t stop thinking about the movie,’” he said. “It was really beautiful.”
Cruise gushed over the couple during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, describing them as “amazing” and “very charismatic.”
William and Kate previously attended the U.K. premiere of another Cruise film, Top Gun: Maverick, in May 2022.
At that event, Cruise told the Press Association of William: “We have a lot in common. We both love England, and we’re both aviators, we both love flying.”
The Top Gun legend, 64, leads Mexican filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu’s forthcoming satirical comedy as titular billionaire oil tycoon Digger Rockwell, who embarks on a frantic mission to save humanity from the environmental mess he’s created. The film also stars Jesse Plemons, Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller and Emma D’Arcy.
Digger will be released October 2 in theaters.
