Chelsea can tighten up the Premier League battle for UEFA Champions League qualification when they host third-placed Manchester United on Saturday, but they will have to reverse a dreadful run of form to do so.

How does the Premier League race to the Champions League stand?

Fifth-placed Liverpool are four points in front of the Blues, while Aston Villa are fourth, level on points with United but seven down on the Red Devils on goal difference.
With Villa and Liverpool not playing until Sunday – Sunderland at home and Everton away, respectively – a Chelsea win would close the gap between third and sixth to just four points for Saturday at least.
Four clubs, including Sunderland and Everton, sit just two points behind Chelsea. A certain run of results across the weekend means just six points could separate third from tenth by the close of this round of matches.
If fans of a close race were to be particularly greedy, wins for Bournemouth and Fulham – 11th and 12th, respectively – as well this weekend could mean the gap from third to 12th would only be eight points with five games to play.
As the former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson once said: “It is squeaky bum time”.
Clock ticking on Champions League qualification, admits Chelsea manager
Rosenior has warned Chelsea that their bid to qualify for the Champions League is hanging in the balance.
The Blues are on a dismal run of one win from their last seven Premier League games, placing their hopes of reaching Europe’s elite club competition in jeopardy.
It is more than six weeks since Chelsea last scored a goal in the league, but Rosenior knows there is no time left to feel sorry for themselves after last weekend’s 3-0 home defeat against Manchester City.
“As the season goes on, the less games you have left, the more important the games become,” Rosenior told reporters ahead of the game.
“We have to take advantage of this moment. We’re running out of time.
“We need to show that initiative on Saturday and play on the front foot and make up those points, which is still definitely possible.
“If I look at each game, I think it’s just come down to loss of concentration of focus in a moment that then has snowballed into the rest of the performances.
“What we have to do is manage the margins of the game a little bit better.”
Chelsea braced for fan protest ahead of Man Utd visit
A protest by Chelsea supporters is planned ahead of the United game, reflecting the growing discontent since owners BlueCo took over from Roman Abramovich almost four years ago.
Unless results improve drastically in the next few weeks, this season will be the first under the club’s American owners that the team’s league position has dropped.
Rosenior’s position is also likely to come under scrutiny after a disappointing start to his reign, which started in January when he arrived from Strasbourg to replace Enzo Maresca.
Maresca departed by mutual consent after hinting he did not receive sufficient support from the owners.
Strasbourg are owned by BlueCo, which led some fans to criticise Rosenior’s appointment and claim he would be a puppet for the board, in contrast to the volatile Maresca.
“Every supporter has their viewpoint,” Rosenior said. “Every supporter wants their club to do well and to win games. Our job, my job, is to produce those results in the long term.”
What happened the last time Chelsea played Man Utd?
The reverse fixture at Old Trafford earlier this season resulted in a 2-1 win for the Red Devils at Old Trafford.
Following the sending off of Chelsea keeper Robert Sanchez in the fifth minute, Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro gave the home side a two-goal advantage at the break.
The latter, however, saw red in the last minute of the first half, but Trevor Chalobah’s 80th-minute strike was in vain as United held on for the win.

This will be the 199th meeting between the clubs, with United winning 81 of the matches and Chelsea emerging victorious on 56 occasions.

Chelsea manager Rosenior says midfielder Enzo Fernandez has returned to full training and is available for selection for the visit of Manchester United after being dropped for disciplinary reasons.
The 25-year-old Argentina World Cup winner was omitted from the squad for the 7-0 win over League One Port Vale in the FA Cup quarterfinals and last week’s 3-0 Premier League defeat by second-placed Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
Fernandez, who had been wearing the captain’s armband in the absence of the injured Reece James, had previously said he would assess his future after the World Cup and expressed a desire to live in Madrid, comments for which he later apologised.
“Enzo has been with the group and has been training very, very well,” Rosenior told reporters on Thursday. “So, it’s business as usual in terms of selection for the game.
“In terms of his training, his application to training, Enzo has been fantastic as well.”
Rosenior also provided updates on defender Trevoh Chalobah, who has not played since the second leg of Chelsea’s Champions League defeat by Paris Saint-Germain, and on James, who has been sidelined since the loss to Newcastle United also in March.
“Trevoh trained today but not quite fully; it was a modified training,” Rosenior said. “We’ll make a decision on him, but he’s very, very close. Reece is a little bit further away.”

Perfume (emotional sniff) has become astronomically expensive over the last decade. The same scent I used to wear as a university student in 2014 has now almost doubled in cost, with 100ml of the sea salt-scented fragrance now sitting at over £120. Simply put, it’s out of my price range.
My phone, like most things about me, knows this. As such, my targeted social media ads aggressively point me towards bargain fragrance sites that claim to offer a dupe of the same coastal aroma for around a fifth of the price. Except, (big shock here) they’re so weak that the smell is only detectable for roughly five milliseconds, which is how I took to browsing for real bottles of the stuff on second-hand sites and cheaper, lesser-known – and less reputable – online cosmetic stores.
Now, imagine my shock and horror when Helen Barnham, head of enforcement campaigns at the Intellectual Property Office (IPO), warned shoppers that these cheap products may not only be fake, but could also contain wee. Yes, that’s p*** perfume.
“Cosmetics and perfume, when we had some tested, have had horse urine in them, so you don’t want to be putting that on your skin,” she told the BBC. You can say that again, Helen.
Noor Khan, perfumer and co-founder of the fragrance community Juice, tells me he’s not even shocked by this piece of horrifying news. “That’s the concerning part,” he says.
“Horse urine is one ingredient but you’ve also got industrial solvents, methanol, phthalates – sometimes even antifreeze. Or, just in general, low-grade synthetic fragrance oils that are known to be harmful to the skin.”
Unlike at established fragrance houses or lower-price point dupe brands, counterfeit fragrances operate entirely outside of regulation.
“There’s no quality control or ingredient traceability,” says Khan. “Essentially, you’re putting something completely unknown onto your skin. If a deal sounds too good to be true, then it generally is.”
Aside from low prices, other red flags are “sellers on marketplaces without a brand identity, poor packaging, or spelling errors,” according to Khan, who says to watch out if a product is described as a “tester” or “unboxed” with a heavy discount.
“Sadly, the safest route is to always buy directly from the brand or authorised retailers,” he says. “You do get amazing sales, but ultimately, fragrance is a cosmetic product and it should always come with a level of trust and traceability.”
Director General at the Cosmetic Toiletry and Perfumery Association (CTPA), Dr Emma Meredith, adds: “Counterfeit beauty products might look like the real deal, but that’s where the similarity stops. Behind the copycat packaging, you could be buying something that doesn’t work as promised — and could even put your health at risk. Your safety is a top priority for the cosmetics industry. Fake and illegal products don’t just put you in danger; they also undermine the trust millions of people place in the genuine, safe products used every single day.”
In recent years, there have been certified efforts by high street brands to offer fragrances at lower price points that still feel somewhat luxe. Zara, for example, collaborated with Jo Malone in 2019.
The store’s standard fragrances are also regularly compared with high-end scents: Red Temptation with Baccarat Rouge 540, Energetically New York to Le Labo Santal 33, and Golden Decade to YSL Libre are just a handful of examples of dupes that are similar and safe.
“In the UK, you’ve also got The Essence Vault, Noted Aromas, which is incredibly well known for its quality, Perfume Shark and Rebel Aromas,” says Khan. “There are quite a few [dupe websites] that are UK-based and are far more reliable [than counterfeits].”
Ultimately, though, Khan recommends that consumers (myself included) stop getting so hung up on brand names and try something else.
“The issue really is that the fragrance sits in a luxury space but it’s also something you want to have access to daily,” he points out. “So, you get this grey area where consumers are constantly searching for alternatives and sadly not all of these alternatives are safe or transparent.
“In many cases, it’s just better to buy a well-formulated fragrance at a lower price point than it is to chase a copy of something expensive,” Khan adds. “There are so many great fragrances under the £50 value now that are developed safely, they smell beautiful and they have their own identity.
“Perfume should really be considered a purchase, not a gamble. The counterfeit risks aren’t just that they smell off, it’s that you genuinely don’t know what you’re putting on, and absorbing into your skin.”

While they look like regular garden hoses, one must not forget about the high voltage that needs to be delivered to ensure the proper functioning of your electric vehicle. The realisation of the strain that occurs from frequent bending is step one towards avoiding unnecessary expenses.Fatigue effect in the case of copper wireThere are no external signs of damage here because the main problem is the internal fatigue. The bending action causes tension within different layers of insulation and other materials. According to a study published in Polymers, the cables are subjected to both normal and torsion stresses. As the cable becomes tightly bent or pulled, its inner polymer sheaths become damaged before the copper wires themselves.This experiment reveals an odd and troubling phenomenon. With each bend, the internal fibres of the wire break apart, and the electrical resistance changes. Initially, there may be a decrease in resistance because the wires are compressed; however, as the wire becomes more damaged, the electrical resistance will either increase or behave unpredictably because the electric current is being obstructed internally. In most cases, internal damage will appear much earlier than any external tears on the rubber surface of the cable. When cracks form externally, there might be microscopic fractures internally.
Proper storage with large loops and using cable holders at connection points can significantly extend cable life, preventing costly repairs and ensuring reliable charging.
Yet another important point is related to the study Fatigue damage mechanisms in steel cable under bending loading. While the material under examination in that case is steel, the underlying principles apply equally well to the copper wires used in the EV charging cable. It is not the contact between wires but fatigue due to repetitive flexing that causes failure. In this case, the fracture of a single thin wire results in an abrupt increase in stress, causing the next one to break as well.Good practices to extend the life of your EV charging cableThere is no need for any specialised equipment to ensure the durability of your purchase; you just have to be mindful when storing the cord. A common pitfall is looping the cable too tightly, which might create a nice-looking coil but will subject the copper wires to plastic deformation. This structural modification renders the cable brittle. Therefore, using large, slack loops is recommended.Connection points represent yet another significant hazard. A heavy power cord suspended from a wall-mounted charger forms an acute angle in a “V” shape at the connection point, putting pressure on the inner cable insulation with a lot of force. A solution could be as simple as using a cable holder or even a hook to distribute weight evenly on the cable’s loop. The objective is to reduce rate-sensitive stress damage, which means that cables wear out faster with frequent and severe bending.Regular checks are also very important. Parents ‘expect to spend £85 on average in spring on children’s school supplies’
The majority of parents of young children and teenagers use the spring months to stock up on school supplies – often because their offspring have outgrown the “back to school” items they previously purchased, a survey has found.
Nearly four-fifths (78%) of people said they use springtime to top up on school items, according to the survey of 2,000 parents across the UK of children aged four to 16 years old.
Parents expect to spend £85 on average on school supplies over the spring months – with outgrown uniforms, shoes and stationary high on shopping lists, according to the research carried out for cashback website Rakuten.
Nearly a third (29%) of parents said they shop in spring to ease the financial pressure across the year.
Some spending is also driven by needing to buy specific items to use in the summer term, according to the research, carried out by Opinium in March.
Rakuten’s savings expert Bola Sol said: “Back to school shopping is no longer just a September moment.
“Parents are planning ahead, spreading the cost and making small, smart savings wherever they can. When budgets are tight, changing when you shop can be just as important as where you shop.”

Kansas City Chiefs star receiver Rashee Rice isn’t the only one facing discipline for a March 2024 car crash in Dallas.
Theodore “Teddy” Knox, a former SMU cornerback and teammate of Rice’s in college, was driving a Corvette while racing Rice’s Lamborghini on a Dallas highway before it caused a multi-car crash.
Knox has been hit with a $2.88 million default judgment in a lawsuit from one of those crash victims, Kathryn Kuykendall, according to ESPN.

Knox was ruled “grossly negligent” by Judge Kim Bailey Phipps, and a default judgment comes when a lawsuit has no response or a party does not appear in court. In this case, it was reportedly the latter.
“We’ve asked the court to grant the default judgment because we’re ethically required to as a matter of diligence,” Kuykendall’s attorney, Marc Lenahan, said in a statement to ESPN when the motion was filed.
“Personally, it pleases us that Teddy hasn’t made further mistakes that we’re aware of. If a team gives him a chance to prove that he’s walking the right path now, we’ll be rooting for him.”

This marks the third default judgment issued against Knox from the March 2024 crash. He was also ordered to pay $1.99 million to Irina Gromova and $1.63 million to Edvard Petrovskiy in combined damages.
Knox and Rice pleaded guilty to charges from the crash, and Knox was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of probation. Knox was charged with causing a collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury.

Rice had similar charges, receiving five-year deferred probation and 30 days in jail as a condition of the probation. His jail time was said to be flexible, according to the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office.
Rice was also required to pay the victims for their out-of-pocket medical expenses, which totaled around $115,000, as part of his plea agreement.
Rice was also suspended six games for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, which he served last season.
The 25-year-old receiver said in a statement issued by his attorney at the time of the league’s decision that he’s had “a lot of sleepless nights thinking about the damages my actions caused, and I will continue working within my means to make sure that everyone impacted will be made whole.”

Blue Panther and Último Guerrero steal the show at CMLL’s first-ever US event in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – Mexican pro wrestling legends Blue Panther and Último Guerrero have been through the wringer and then some in their careers.
Panther, 65, made his wrestling debut in 1978, left Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) in 1992 and then returned in 1997. Guerrero, 54, started his career in 1990 and joined CMLL in 1997.
The two have won multiple championships with the company and, on Thursday night, made more history.

Panther and Guerrero were a part of the first solo CMLL show in the U.S. The company made its way to Las Vegas for the event for the first time in its 92-year history. They competed against each other in a legends match that turned into a must-see wrestling performance.
The two Lucha Libre giants turned back the clock to deliver a phenomenal performance. Guerrero broke out hurricanranas and a superplex from the top rope. Panther matched him with multiple suicide dives. When Guerrero stepped away from the third one, Panther hit a crossbody from the middle rope onto the floor.
Panther capped off the match with a toss from the top rope. He then pinned Guerrero for the win.
Fans who packed the Pearl Theater at the Palms Casino Resort shouted “Muchas gracias” to the two superstars, who didn’t feel like they were close at all to hanging up their boots.

The show featured Persephone defending her CMLL World Women’s Championship against Tessa Blanchard, a one-time CMLL tag-team champion and former Total Nonstop Action (TNA) world champion and knockouts champion.
Blanchard entered the venue as the ultimate heel and heard the boos from the crowd because of it. But she was not timid against the rising star Persephone. She went to work on Persephone, targeting her knee throughout the match.
Persephone would pull out all the stops to take care of Blanchard. After receiving a cutter on the apron, Persephone hit Blanchard with a gnarly German suplex.

As the match wore on, Persephone got the upper hand in the corner. She was able to reverse Blanchard’s attack and nailed her with a crucifix powerbomb for the win. She’s 3-1 against Blanchard all time.
Persephone will have a chance to win more gold Friday night when she makes her Maple Leaf Pro (MLP) debut as part of the Slam Fest event.
She’s challenging for the MLP Women’s Canadian Championship against titleholder Gisele Shaw and Shotzi Blackheart.
