President Donald Trump told reporters that the U.S. already has Iran’s nuclear material, claiming it’s now buried so far underground beneath rubble that only the U.S. could remove it.
Pressed further on if this meant he had no plans to use American troops on the ground to take the material, he said, “Why would I go in now?”
“We’ve already got the nuclear matter because it’s so far underground. Nobody’s going to be able to get it except us, because we have the equipment that you can get it. But the — I call it the nuclear dust — nuclear material is so far down underneath a mountain, and now that’s been determined, that it would take massive machinery that we have that no other country has,” Trump said.
“I’d go in when they’re completely either eliminated or whatever happens or an agreement is made,” Trump said.
