Spurs’ Dylan Harper gets unfortunate downgrade before Game 5

San Antonio Spurs rookie guard Dylan Harper was downgraded to questionable for Tuesday’s Game 5 matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves just hours before tipoff.

Harper is dealing with left knee soreness stemming from an incident that occurred in the closing seconds of the Spurs’ Game 4 loss in Minnesota. The 20-year-old guard went down in pain after securing an offensive rebound with just under 30 seconds remaining in the 114-109 loss.

Harper participated in Tuesday morning’s shootaround, but his status for Game 5 is now in question.

In addition to Harper, veteran guard De’Aaron Fox was added to the Spurs’ injury report with left ankle soreness on Monday. He’s listed as questionable and will be a game-time decision on Tuesday night.

Both Harper and Fox played massive roles for the Spurs following Victor Wembanyama’s ejection early in the second quarter of Game 4.

Harper finished the game with 24 points, seven rebounds and three steals, shooting 8/11 from the field and 1/1 from behind the 3-point arc. Fox chipped in with 24 points of his own, and Stephon Castle recorded 20 points.
