Dakota Johnson is opening up about her dreams of starting a family amid swirling speculation over her love life.
Just days after relationship rumors sparked with rapper MGK, formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly, after the two stars were pictured together in New York City, the 36-year-old actor shared brief reflections on her love life in a new interview with Vogue.
The Materialists star told the magazine that, although her life has been unpredictable thus far, she wants to have children. “I really do,” she said. “I didn’t expect to be this age and at this place in my life, but for whatever reason, that’s the plan of the universe. So I would love that.”
She continued, “I hope that that happens for me. I’ve always felt, especially the last few years, that there is a soul that wants to come through. And I hope that I’m lucky enough to be able to do that.”
Johnson said that while filming one of her most recent projects, Three Incestuous Sisters, her co-stars Saoirse Ronan and Jessie Buckley, along with her co-producer Ro Donnelly, all had their young children on set with them.
“It’s hard to be around my best friends, and even on set, and everyone has their baby, and, you know, starting families, and things turned out differently than I thought,” Johnson said. “But it’s okay. I’m hopeful for that. I also just keep learning more and more and becoming a more solid woman.”
The remarks come after People reported earlier this week that Johnson has been seeing 36-year-old MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, “under the radar for months now” after they hit it off at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding at Madison Square Garden in July.
A source close to the rapper told the outlet that the pair “started off as friends and were texting often, but now they’re spending more time together.”
“It’s a very new start, but they’re smitten with each other right now,” the insider said.
Neither Johnson nor MGK returned The Independent’s requests for comment.
MGK has a one-year-old daughter with Megan Fox, who he dated on and off from 2020 until 2024. He also has an older daughter, Casie, from a previous relationship.
Johnson was last romantically linked to Tucker Pillsbury, who is known by his stage name of Role Model, after they were first seen together in late 2025.
Before that, she dated Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in an on-and-off relationship for eight years before they officially called it off in June 2025.
The 50 Shades of Grey actor alluded to her penchant for dating musicians in her Vogue interview by calling them “tricky motherf*****s.”
“They like me. I don’t know what to say,” she told the magazine. “And I like them.”
