US British Embassy chef shares menu served to Charles and Camilla during DC visit

Craig Harnden, head chef at the U.S. British Embassy in Washington, D.C., has revealed what he made for King Charles and Queen Camilla during the first day of their state visit to the U.S.

On Monday, Harnden and his team prepared an afternoon tea for more than 650 guests in the embassy’s garden. Notable figures in attendance besides Charles and Camila included former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senator Ted Cruz and U.K. Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper.

On X, the British Embassy said its menu included “four kinds of tea sandwiches, scones, desserts and several British flavors from smoked Scottish salmon to British Beef.”

The Embassy also shared a video of the preparations, featuring an interview with Harnden. “We’ll be making approximately 2,500 to 3,000 individual sandwiches,” the chef said as his team assembled rows of sandwiches in the kitchen. “The calculation is based on experience or a little bit of luck.”

The first sandwich featured Scottish smoked salmon, lemon butter and brown bread. Harnden then prepared a roast beef and horseradish sandwich, which he noted was not a traditional flavor for an afternoon tea.

“We do have the first imports of British beef, which I’m more than happy to use for this special occasion,” he explained. “Bend the rules a little bit.”

The third sandwich was an egg mayonnaise, made with boiled eggs, a touch of mayonnaise, salt and black pepper. The fourth option, a cucumber sandwich, had slightly pickled cucumbers. “So there’s sweetness and acidity into the sandwich, which makes it a little more interesting,” Harnden explained.

Aside from sandwiches, the Embassy kitchen served hundreds of scones for the afternoon tea. “So we’ll bake the scones about an hour and a half before service, so nice and fresh and warm,” Harnden said. “Clotted cream, strawberry jam and a nice strawberry on top. Done.”

On Monday, Charles and Camilla landed at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, a short distance from Washington, D.C. They went on to have a private tea with Donald and Melania Trump in the White House Green Room, followed by the garden party.

Charles will address Congress on Tuesday, marking only the second time a British monarch has done so — after Queen Elizabeth II in 1991. He is expected to say that while the U.K. and the U.S. have not always agreed on everything, they have “always found ways to come together” amid strains to the “special relationship” from the Iran war.

Charles and Camilla are set to travel to New York City Wednesday, where they will visit the 9/11 memorial, marking the approach of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

As part of a visit to the New York Public Library’s permanent treasures collection, the Queen will give a specially made toy of Winnie-the-Pooh character Roo to the library to complete a set of the beloved characters in one of the institution’s collections.

The historic trip is the King’s first to the U.S. as monarch and the first state visit of any British monarch since 2007. The occasion also marks the 250th anniversary of American independence.

Hawks vs Knicks Game 5 betting preview: Why Karl-Anthony Towns’ assists are the play to watch

Hawks vs Knicks Game 5 betting preview: Why Karl-Anthony Towns’ assists are the play to watch

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

We had three games in the NBA last night, and one was a close-out game.

The Oklahoma City Thunder made light work of the Suns (although Phoenix did barely cover the spread in the game). The Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons had a great battle, and now Orlando leads the No. 1 seed 3-1 in the series.

The Denver Nuggets dominated and covered against the Minnesota Timberwolves as expected, and most importantly, I was able to cash both of the player props in that one. Tonight, we have a pivotal Game 5 between the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks. Let’s find an angle for this one to make some money via sports betting.

To most casual fans, the Hawks making this a competitive series is probably a surprise. Most of them are probably thinking that Trae Young is on the team. This is no longer Young’s team; this is now Jalen Johnson’s squad. Honestly, it might be C.J. McCollum’s team, but he is a free agent at the end of the season. McCollum has led the team in scoring in three of the four games against the Knicks. Interestingly enough, Johnson, who led the team in points, rebounds, and assists during the regular season, has only led them in the playoffs once in each category.

How have the Hawks found their success? They’ve managed to keep the Knicks from executing late in games. The margin of victory in both of their victories was just one point. The Knicks even had the ball with a chance to win in both of those games. In the first opportunity, they missed the shot. The second, the Hawks played great defense and kept them from scoring.

The Knicks love to make things difficult on themselves. Last season, they struggled with the Pistons, and this year, the Hawks seem like they are pushing them. New York has a very strong starting lineup, and they have a deeper bench than last year. However, it seems like they don’t know what they are doing late in games. In fairness, they probably have been the better team in all four games.

New York won the first game by 11 points and really didn’t have much of a struggle in that one. Then in game two, they let a lead slip away as McCollum hit shot after shot down the stretch. Losing that one at home is one they probably should’ve taken. In Game 3, the Knicks outscored the Hawks in two quarters and tied in a third. Last game the offense ran was much more balanced and saw the Knicks win by 16. A lot of the offense went through Karl-Anthony Towns, which apparently wasn’t intentional, but might be now.

I don’t have a ton of faith in the Knicks to go away from Jalen Brunson and let Towns orchestrate the offense. He posted a triple-double in Game 4, dumping passes off to OG Anunoby repeatedly. Anunoby actually led the team in scoring in both games in Atlanta. As I mentioned, Mike Brown, the Knicks head coach, said that it wasn’t really a game plan to let Towns pass from the high post.

In this game, the Hawks will likely change their defensive plan. However, Towns has had four or more assists in three of the four games of this series.

I expect the Knicks to try to give him more opportunities, and even with the Hawks’ adjustments, if he can’t pass the ball as effectively, he should be able to score more. Give me his assist total over 3.5 assists.

I also lean towards the over for the game. I think the defensive adjustments won’t be as effective and will open up more opportunities for other players. Over 214.5 is a strong look here.

Ameriprise data breach hits 48,000 customers

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

If you have an account with Ameriprise Financial, this is one of those moments where it makes sense to slow down and pay close attention.

A data breach disclosed last month exposed the personal information of nearly 48,000 people across the United States.

While the company says no money was stolen, that does not mean there is no risk. In many cases, this is when the real problems begin.

Let’s walk through what happened, what may be at stake and what you should do next.

BANKING TECH DATA BREACH EXPOSES 672K IN RANSOMWARE ATTACK

What we know about the Ameriprise data breach

The incident dates back to March 2, 2026. Ameriprise says it detected unauthorized access on March 18, about 16 days later, according to a filing with the Maine attorney general. In simple terms, someone gained access to stored company data and files. The company says it blocked that access once discovered and brought in outside cybersecurity experts to investigate.

Ameriprise also said there were no unauthorized transactions or movement of funds, and business operations continued without disruption. That may sound reassuring at first. However, breaches like this are rarely about immediate theft. Instead, the risk often shows up later.

What kind of data may have been exposed?

The notification letters say the attacker accessed “certain stored data and files” that may include personal information. That can vary depending on the individual. In breaches like this, it often includes names, addresses and financial account details. In some cases, it may also involve Social Security numbers or other identifiers.

At the same time, court filings tied to the case raised additional concerns. Two lawsuits alleged that a group known as ShinyHunters claimed responsibility and threatened to release more than 200 gigabytes of internal data. Those lawsuits were later dropped without prejudice, which means they could be refiled. As a result, the legal side of this story may not be over.

How Ameriprise responded to the data breach

“This relates to a recent incident that involved unauthorized access to certain stored data and files. Importantly, there was no disruption to business operations,” an Ameriprise Financial spokesperson told CyberGuy. “We are taking appropriate actions, including notifying the limited number of individuals with personally identifiable information (PII) impacts and offering them credit and identity monitoring.”

That response is standard after a breach. It can help you spot suspicious activity sooner, but it does not stop every type of fraud.

It is also worth noting that Ameriprise has reported multiple data security incidents over the past several years. That context may raise additional concerns for some customers.

Why the Ameriprise breach still matters even if no money was stolen

This is the part many of us overlook. When you hear that no funds were moved, it is easy to assume everything is fine. In reality, stolen personal data often becomes valuable later.

That information can be used for identity theft or account takeovers. It can also fuel highly convincing phishing scams. In some cases, it ends up tied to fraudulent loan or credit applications. So while nothing may happen right away, the exposure can create risk that lingers.

How to stay safe after the Ameriprise data breach

Breaches like this are becoming more common, even at large financial firms that invest heavily in security. However, that does not mean you are powerless. It does mean you should assume your data could be exposed at some point and take steps to protect yourself ahead of time. Being proactive now can help you avoid bigger problems down the road. So here are some steps that can help reduce your risk and give you more control.

1) Secure your email account first

Start with your email since it connects to almost every account you have. Use a strong password and turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) to lock it down.

2) Watch your financial accounts closely

Check your bank and investment accounts regularly. Look for unfamiliar transactions, even small ones, since fraud often starts quietly.

3) Lock down your credit

Placing a credit freeze with the major bureaus can make it much harder for someone to open new accounts in your name.

4) Use strong, unique passwords

If you reuse passwords, now is the time to change that habit. A password manager can help you create and store secure logins. Check out the best expert-reviewed password managers of 2026 at Cyberguy.com.

SCAMS THAT AREN’T ILLEGAL (BUT SHOULD BE)

5) Turn on two-factor authentication

Add two-factor authentication (2FA) wherever possible, especially for financial accounts and any service tied to your identity.

6) Remove your personal data from broker sites

Consider using a personal data removal service to reduce the amount of your information that is publicly available. This can limit targeted scams that rely on detailed personal profiles. Check out my top picks for data removal services and get a free scan to find out if your personal information is already out on the web by visiting Cyberguy.com.

7) Be cautious with unexpected messages

After breaches, phishing attempts tend to increase. Messages may look legitimate, so take a moment to verify before clicking links or sharing information. Using strong antivirus software can also help detect malicious links or downloads before they cause harm. Get my picks for the best 2026 antivirus protection winners for your Windows, Mac, Android and iOS devices at Cyberguy.com.

8) Consider identity monitoring tools

Identity theft services can alert you to suspicious activity tied to your personal data. They are not perfect, but they can help you respond faster. They can also monitor dark web marketplaces where stolen information is often traded. See my tips and best picks on Best Identity Theft Protection at Cyberguy.com.

Kurt’s key takeaways

The Ameriprise breach is a reminder that even trusted financial institutions can become targets. The company says no money was taken, and that matters. Still, the exposure of personal data can carry long-term risk. While this story may fade from headlines, the impact can last much longer for those affected. Paying attention now can save you from dealing with fraud later.

Man City fixtures: Pep Guardiola’s side face pile-up in May

Man City fixtures: Pep Guardiola’s side face pile-up in May

Manchester City have been left frustrated by the length of time it has taken for the Crystal Palace game to be confirmed and feel the principle of rescheduling games at the earliest moment has not been followed.

The Premier League knew about the need to rearrange that game on 4 February, when City beat Newcastle to book their place in the Carabao Cup final, but it has taken almost three months to come to this decision.

It is understood City had offered three different alternatives for the Palace fixture in the weeks beginning 20 and 27 April, as well as 4 May, but Burnley game was rescheduled for the first option and Oliver Glasner’s side’s participation in the Europa Conference League ruling out the other.

Uefa do not want any fixtures to clash with the Europa League final on Wednesday, 20 May – which is why the Bournemouth fixture is now taking place on the previous day – yet it is pointed out that Arsenal were given permission to play their league game at Wolves on 18 February despite four Champions League knockout matches taking place on the same night.

City had put forward the scenario of potentially facing Bournemouth on 12 May and Palace a week later, which would have allowed an extra day to recover for the Wembley showpiece and to play their final two league games of the season at home.

While Manchester City wanted to play the game against Crystal Palace on Tuesday. 19 May, this did not seem to take into account the Eagles’ game against Brentford.

That game has to be played on Sunday, 17 May as the FA Cup final takes place the day before, so there was no realistic prospect that Palace would be told to play again 48 hours later when there were other options available.

Sources say the Premier League have referenced a principle which states that all FA Cup semi‑finalists should play in the first available midweek before those matches, but the game against the Cherries has instead been put into the week after.

It leaves City with an arduous three games in seven days with a lot of travelling involved during the most crucial part of the campaign when they are chasing a domestic treble.

How often should you really wash your sheets? Here’s the science-backed answer | – The Times of India

How often should you really wash your sheets? Here’s the science-backed answer | – The Times of India

The weekly sheet rule: helpful habit or hygiene myth? Image Credits: Google Gemini

You’ve been told it your whole life: wash your sheets weekly, no exceptions. It sounds like one of those grown-up rules you can’t argue with, like flossing and filing your taxes on time, but the real answer is a little bit more complicated, and a whole lot more interesting than a weekly reminder on your phone.Where the weekly rule really came fromThat weekly wash advice didn’t come out of thin air. It has a pretty specific origin. It’s not just cleaning, it’s controlling the dust mites. Dust mites are microscopic creatures that prefer warm, humid environments, and your bed is a five-star hotel to them. The study, Update on House Dust Mite Allergen Avoidance Measures for Asthma, recommends frequent washing of bedding, ideally in hot water above 55°C, to kill mites and remove their allergens. You spend a third of your life in bed, and every time you move, turn over or make the bed in the morning, you are kicking up what has settled in your sheets overnight. It’s not so much what you can see, it’s what you can’t.So yes, there’s science behind the weekly rule, but it was made for a specific reason: to control allergen exposure. If that doesn’t bother you, your numbers may be different.Does the water really need to be scalding hot?Not all guidelines call for boiling water. It is recommended to wash it weekly in warm water, among other reasons, because water near the boiling point is a real scalding hazard in home laundry. So if you’ve been running your washer on the hottest setting and thinking that’s overkill, well, sometimes it is.Most American homes can wash in warm water all the time. It kills most mites and allergens, but it doesn’t turn your laundry into a sterilisation lab. Most people would prefer warm water and weekly washing rather than hot water and monthly washing. When washing more often actually makes senseThe math is different if you have asthma, allergies or perennial allergic rhinitis. Weekly washing might not be overkill for allergy-prone sleepers; it might be the bare minimum. It’s not just a place to sleep; your bed is a place where you are breathing in concentrated allergens for seven or eight hours straight.

Image

Dust mites don’t care how tidy your bedroom looks; they care about warmth, moisture, and time.Image Credits: Google Gemini

A recent study in the Yonsei Medical Journal shows how bedding control can greatly reduce allergen exposure in those sensitive to mites. That said, laundry alone won’t do it. Mattress covers, pillow encasements and general bedroom hygiene are all part of the same package. Weekly sheet washing is one layer of protection; it is necessary, but part of a bigger system.People with scabies should wash all clothing and bedding used during the three days before the treatment, as scabies mites can not survive more than two to three days away from a human host. No weeks-long protocol needed. The point is that the proper schedule depends upon what you are dealing with. What “clean” really means (and doesn’t)One more thing about sheets to know. Washing them doesn’t mean they come out perfectly sanitised. There are many different communities of microbes that live in washing machines, so the success of your laundry routine depends on the water temperature, the detergent, the load size, how you dry your sheets, and even how clean your machine is.That doesn’t mean washing your sheets is pointless, but it does mean washing them alone isn’t a complete answer. These all help: proper drying, keeping your machine clean and using the right detergent. So, what’s the actual verdict?Washing your sheets weekly is not a myth or a mistake. For most people, especially those with an allergy or asthma, it’s still the smart default, but it’s not some law of nature that applies to everyone. If you are generally healthy and do not have respiratory issues, your schedule may vary slightly depending on whether you have pets, tend to run hot at night or live in a humid climate. For sensitivities, weekly washings in warm water are a good baseline, preferably with allergen-proof covers and good bedroom ventilation.Washing our sheets weekly is not something science prohibits. It’s asking you the more important question: what are you really trying to stop? Answer that, and you will know exactly what your sheets need to contain.
